Spring 2015 Newsletter

1 February 2015

Dear Friend,

Yes it will soon be Spring… the garden birds already know it! And the Ladybrook Singers are having a busy time too.

We had a really good Christmas concert at St Mary’s in Stockport Marketplace, with a programme that included spiritual and secular music and readings. We all enjoyed singing traditional carols with our audience, and Pat Jaques’ reading of an alternative version of The Twelve Days of Christmas had everyone in stitches! So far we have raised over £500 for our charity, NW Air Ambulance, so a huge ‘thank you’ to all.

The following week we spent a lovely evening singing at the Sunrise Care Home in Bramhall. This is a regular engagement for us, and despite the bitterly cold evening, we were delighted to entertain so many of the residents.

We’re now busy planning and rehearsing for our 2015 events. We start on Friday February 13th, with a short performance at Alderley Edge School for Girls, Wilmslow Rd, Alderley Edge SK9 7QE. The Wilmslow Lions Club have organised a concert in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care featuring the The Lions Youth Brass Band. Tickets are just £5 for an enjoyable evening and to support this very worthy cause.

Then, on Saturday 28th February, we are taking part in the Hazel Grove Music Festival, at Wesley St Methodist Church. We were winners there in 2011, and hope to do well again this year.

A date for your diary! Our charity concert for 2015 will be on Saturday 13th June at Disley Methodist Church. We will be working on a new programme, and you will be able to find more details on our website very soon. This is a major event for us each year; please do your very best to come and join us… and tell your friends!
